EMPLOYEE GIVING CAMPAIGNS

How Employee Giving Campaigns Work

Workplace Giving Programs That Benefit the Mainland Communities

If you're looking for a way for your company and employees to be more involved with the community you live and work in, an employee workplace campaign may give you the opportunity to support our cause. One of the main benefits of these employer-sponsored programs is that they allow individual employees to make charitable contributions through periodic employee payroll deductions or a one-time pledge.

Workplace campaign donations to charities offer an opportunity for employee participation in tax-deductible donations, which provides a smooth and efficient way to collect and distribute monetary contributions to nonprofit organizations and charitable organizations.

When you partner with United Way Galveston County Mainland (UWGCM) to make charitable contributions and create workplace giving programs for your employees, it gives your company a way to boost corporate social responsibility without a large fundraising or managerial burden. Another advantage to employee workplace campaigns is that employee donations go further because UWGCM's many local nonprofit partner agencies that work together to alleviate the effects of poverty in many different ways - from rental and utility assistance programs to community health and educational programs.

How It Works

Employees have the option to designate all or part of their gift to a particular UWGCM agency. Designated dollars to member agencies are included in the total amount each agency receives from UWGCM. This amount or allocation, is determined through the citizen's review process - also known as our Allocation Committee. If total designations exceed the allocated amount, the agency receives the greater amount.

  1. Employees are given the opportunity to donate to United Way through payroll deduction, which means a specified amount is deducted from their paycheck each pay period. Employees can also choose to make a one-time donation, volunteer their time, or participate in other fundraising activities.

  2. United Way collects donations and distributes them to its various programs and services, which may include initiatives such as education, health, and financial stability.

  3. At the end of the campaign, United Way provides the company with a report detailing the amount of money raised, as well as other metrics such as employee participation rates and the impact achieved.

Overall, employee workplace giving campaigns are an effective way for United Way to raise funds and engage with the community. By giving your workers a way to contribute to causes they are passionate about, you can keep them engaged and even reduce employee turnover by up to 32%. The high retention rates associated with workplace giving campaigns benefit the organization, the community, and the employees themselves. As employee morale and retention increase, they will be more likely to regularly contribute to support charitable programs while helping the company grow financially. By partnering with companies and organizations, United Way is able to reach a larger audience and make a greater impact on the lives of those in need. Everyone wins and Lives United!
