Air Products Foundation Makes Donation to United Way Galveston County Mainland

The community continues support with donations to help those in need

Galveston County, May 20, 2021 – United Way Galveston County Mainland (UWGCM) announced today a $10,000 donation from the Air Products Foundation to provide support to residents of Galveston County Mainland. The foundation’s support will help assist nonprofit agency partners with their most pressing needs and essential services during a time when many economically disadvantaged residents are struggling to make ends meet.

“Many of our residents were mentally, emotionally and financially affected in a negative way from the aftermath of Winter Storm Uri and COVID-19 and United Way is so incredibly grateful to the Air Products Foundation whose kindness sets an example for others,” said Chris Delesandri, Executive Director of United Way Galveston County Mainland. “The generosity of the foundation is helping our nonprofit agency partners with their essential services – services that are helping so many people in need.”

Each year, United Way Galveston County Mainland works with 28 member agencies and other partners to improve people’s lives and build a stronger community. By supporting agencies that work in health, education and financial stability, UWGCM ensures that people in a crisis can get the help they need right away and address the underlying issues they face. In 2020, UWGCM contributions provided support to the Galveston County Food Bank to store and distribute approximately 2.3 million pounds of nutritional food and essential items. Approximately 300 men, women and families who were experiencing homelessness or other crisis, such as natural disasters, received emergency over-night shelter assistance through The Salvation Army’s Center of Hope Program.

“Agencies such as the Galveston County Food Bank and The Salvation Army heavily rely on funding from United Way Galveston County Mainland and without supporters like the Air Products Foundation, we would not be able to provide this necessary funding,” said Delesandri.
